- Behaviorism: Behaviorism is using reinforcement and punishment techniques to encourage or discourage certain behaviors. The environment around us shapes us because we are blank slates and so the behaviors of others can influence our behaviors as well. We can be conditioned to follow certain behavior patterns by the people around us. An example can be rats who push the lever everytime they get food and then keep continuing that behavior of pushing the lever to get more food. Their behavior of pushing the lever has been conditioned by behaviorism. Millie, Emily, Luck, Lauren
- Cognitivism: Cognitivism focuses more on the mind and the thinking process through
reading texts and lecture instructions. People who learn this way are
often thought as information processors. People are
rational human beings whose actions are consequences of thinking. It
focuses on the processes of mental activities like thinking, memory,
knowing, and problem solving. Schema theory is using your own knowladge
to further your learning, sort of like a Black
Box on an airplane.

- Humanism:Humanism is when someone is trying to be a complete
person. To do that, one must achieve the tiers of Maslow’s hierarchy of
needs which is separated into three categories: basic needs,
psychological needs, and self-fulfillment. The goal is to
cultivate a person as a whole and create the most optimal self. A
person must gradually ascend the humanistic needs based on a hierarchy
to reach their peek potential. Humanism emphasizes the individual’s
values, motivations, and goals. Humanistic theory has
the basic assumption that people exist with free will and the ability
to influence their lives through acts of intentionality.

- Connectivism: Connectivism is
a theoretical framework for understanding learning in a digital age.
It emphasizes how
internet technologies such as web browsers, search engines, wikis,
online discussion forums, and social networks contributed to new avenues
of learning.
Today
we live in the social media world with a lot of technology
at our disposal. It is very easy to connect all around the world and
find new resources and information about any subject. Everyone of all
ages can easily connect with the technology at our hands.

COLLAGE
Collage (/kəˈlɑːʒ/, from the French: coller, "to glue" or "to stick together";) is a technique of art creation, primarily used in the visual arts, but in music too, by which art results from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole. In lay terms, a collage is a piece of art made by sticking various different materials such as photographs and pieces of paper or fabric on to a backing.

Animal Kingdom
Our magazine influenced us to have an animal theme. We all love animals and we chose the most ascetically pleasing animals. It is a useful activity for children to learn about animal biology and reproduction, anatomy and physiology of farm and domestic animals, and principles of animal feeding and nutrition.

The Gods Must Be Restless
This project was a humanistic approach because it was more of a philosophical/ holistic way of learning. This is also because there was no right or wrong way of making the collage. The objective for students could be to look deeper into things and express creativity. It could also be to facilitate team work and working with a group of people.

Rhombus of Life
Objective: we have life above and below us. We need to
love our differences before it’s too late. We hope our students would
take away paying attention to images in front of them and thinking of
meaning behind them. Life is all around us and
if you don’t stop and see it you miss beauty.

Nature vs. Time
Gregory Rousseau, Taylor Shell, Remi Petit, Brooke Jaffe
Meaning: Time will tell when nature speaks to us because we failed to protect it.
Objective: To form deeper meanings to express yourself by making connections through pictures and words by using your imagination.
We called this project the universe because it has all different
elements of the universe from humans to animals to hobbies , you name
it! One universe filled with different subjects:)
Objective: we had connectionism so this is a great project to do with the class for them to connect through art and relate it to the outside world.
Our art represents the industrialization and urbanization of our world that starts to separate us from nature. We start to ignore basic needs for superficial needs. The objective would be for students to learn the importance of our natural environment for human survival.
Our piece symbolizes how animals, like people, can all come from
different places, but can still come together in harmony and peace. The objective is to use this collage for students to learn the value of ecological balance.
